Jaloers op de concurrentie

I envy the competition

At the Paris Motor Show, of course, I took a look at the competition. I envy a little bit what Renault is doing. In only a short time, they have created quite a few models that hark back to icons from the past: the 4, 5, 17, Twingo. But they also have a series of modern looking cars for those who don't like all those retro lines. Citroën says that retro does not suit their innovative character. Fine. But at a time when European automakers are being surpassed by Chinese brands, retro could be a strong weapon. The Chinese may win on price, quality, equipment and specs, but they can never revive an iconic model from the past, because they simply don't have one. And Citroën has plenty of those... Last month DS Automobiles unveiled a retro concept car based on... the Citroën SM. Quite a nice design, but shouldn't it have been Citroën who should had revived this car...?
