Citroën speed bumps: an April Fool's joke?

Citroën verkeersdrempels: een 1-aprilgrap?

It's almost 1 April, but this is definitely not a joke: in the town of Issoire, in France's Auvergne region, there have recently been installed two speed bumps with a Citroën logo.

Is this a nod to the traffic signs André Citroën had placed throughout France in the 1920s? Or is it a publicity stunt, because with the comfortable Citroën suspension you won't be bothered by speed bumps?

None of that: it is an initiative by Citroën to improve road safety around schools. These concrete speed bumps are also less noisy and less susceptible to abrasion than plastic ones. Moreover, motorcyclists and bikers can drive in between.

The concrete speed bumps, each weighing 2,000 kilos, feature Citroën's logo and the slogan ‘La mobilité de demain commence ici’ - tomorrow's mobility starts here. The cost of the project is around 10,000 euros, and if the Citro-speed bumps prove a success, more may follow.
